Oxford! Video, the Thursday vintage market plus shopping in Oxford.
Once I’m out of the city I just love to stay in the country. Love it to pieces.
But I’m also a working artist, and that means I need to buy vintage maps and ephemera to paint on. Thursdays in Oxford is a vintage market with a stall run by Gary my favourite vintage map seller from Oxford Maps, so an ideal day to make the trek into town.
Other than that, Oxford is a beautiful, quirky town with loads of unique shops, as well as the old familiar…like Primark for cheap reading glasses, and Lush for bath treats.
But the most wonderful store in Oxford has got to be Scriptum.
Scriptum is a dream come true for anyone who loves paper and books and pens and inks as much as I do.
Come with me and explore Oxford for the day. Come to the vintage market, have tea in a 15C building, brave the summer crowds, and shop for beautiful things in Scriptum:

Love those rabbit bookends! I would have bought those, if the price were right.

Hi Veronica, watching your video made me almost drool with longing to touch all those wonderful vintage things! Is this why you go to England every year? lol

Oxford is such a beautiful city. I remember that church (with the bike against the railing), I was there in November when the ground was totally covered with autumn leaves. So pretty!

Loved the very British comment about ‘a wonderful example of modern communication’ – was he referring to your apologies as you tried to get to the postbox, the postbox itself or your videoing yourself? 🙂

Scriptum sounds like your sort of store! Those book ends are fabulous .. Andrew just told me that Oxford is about an hour away from his Dad’s place ? hopefully I’ll get there when we next visit! Wouldn’t it be grand if you were there then ?

thank you so much for taking me round oxford. in all the years i’ve visited (and lived in) england, i never came to oxford, i have no memories. i’ll surely remember thursday market and never get down there in summertime. other than that, it’s on my wish list. you are such a brave woman, facing the crowd with a selfie installation, all to our benefits. once more, thank you. so lovely to see you enjoying your time. n
