de-Christmas-a-fying

January 16, 2014

It might only be the middle of January in the Great Pacific Northwest but yesterday in the sunshine it was warm enough to ditch the winter coat! Nice! It’s making me feel like spring is just around the corner…and I’m not really a winter girl. I mean, if winter was fresh crisp snow and beautiful red cardinals and pastoral meadows, well, that might be a different story, but here and in Oxfordshire, our winters tend to be wet and leaden skies and boggy, flooded gardens.

So it’s no wonder that I’ve had enough winter and now, with this lovely sunshine, I want to redecorate my space.

First thing’s first. Christmas has to go.

This year Christmas was in E and we took down the tree on twelfth night, but then I didn’t get to Vancouver till eighteenth night. (Is there such a thing? πŸ˜€ )

Still, I took my time taking down the tree. I love my glass deckies, which is not to say that I don’t love my deckies in West Cottage, I do, but it was lovely to see all the glass ornaments here.

Now I’ll keep looking at this photo each time I feel like buying more vintage ornaments…holy smokes…and this is only a part of the stash! Oh it takes some work to put it away!

But I’m not complaining. Spring, here we come. πŸ™‚

It takes me 2 days to get the tree decorated, and another 2 to take it down and wrap all the glass decor. I have four large totes full, and every year I buy more. Labour of love or crazy, I’m not sure which : ). Good to hear you had the sun too. Now we are back into a heavy, dull grey day.

I know Kathryn, that’s why I’m going to spring the place up. Too sad and empty otherwise. πŸ™‚

Are you going to dress things up for spring? If so, I’m excited to see how that goes!

You have a FABULOUS ornament collection, Veronica! Wish I had the patience to decorate that much.

Beautiful ornaments. I have a passion for antique ornaments too. It always takes me a long time to undecorate and redecorate as well. I love the shadow in the first photo! Hopefully your winter is short!

I know Renee, each time I consider buying another I really question my sanity! And the height of my ceiling and possibility of a twenty foot tall tree to hang them all on! πŸ˜€
