From Saturday evening…how did that happen?

April 20, 2013

Holy smokes it’s been one of those weeks where I have so many plans and feeling on top of it all,

and suddenly the week just flies by!

It’s been a week of work like crazy plus a slight problem with my vision which has kept me away form serious camera work. I’ve been having trouble focusing my left eye, and it seems that, when I do focus it, the right eye goes blurry. Don’t worry, it’s temporary and getting better and my optometrist is on top of it.
But for now I’ve not been out to take any brilliant shots and so have to tell you this story instead and bore you with my iPhone shots.
Morgan…that scrubby little cat…decided to not use her litter box and use the downstairs terracotta tiles instead.
Bad cat!
This is her knowing that I know and she knows I’m angry with her. She’s giving me the “do you feel lucky…well…do you?” look. I’m actually the only one in the family who can discipline her without losing an eye. (and I’m desperately trying not to laugh at her serious little mushy face)
This phase only last until she blinks.

Then she slinks away and gives me the wide eyed, “wasn’t me, honest, I’m innocent!” look.

When she keeps getting the “I know you did it stare”, she looks around for a way out and…

tries it on with the, “it was Milo! He’s the bad cat!” look.

And after a while I forgive her and she flakes out in the sunshine.

Also, there was very little art this week. I did manage to sketch this little dragonfly. Dreaming of summer I suppose. I liked this little music paper of Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet. I loved the pattern of the notes it reminded me of a dragonfly with the calm quiet, one little twitch and then off in a frenetic flight.

Ascending
Six out of twelve turned out absolutely deliciously! The seventh...not so much.

Love the pictures of your cat and the story that goes with it. When she was laying on her back in the sun, I thought it was so precious. Your dragonfly drawing is fantastic. BTW, I’m still practicing Ashtanga Yoga twice a week in a class with a wonderful teacher. Vigorous work and worth every minute. I finally understand how we want to/are supposed to, be in our body when doing yoga. I have to stay in my body as I stretch and do my best to hold each pose. And breathe.

I like your camera phone photos. That’s all I’ve been using since I got the phone. That’s because I haven’t been out shooting anything in nature. I’m more of a close-up, form for form’s sake, photographer. Besides, it’s lightweight and takes great pictures.

    Happy Sunday,
    Marrianna

Hi Marrianna, I’m so glad you’re enjoying your yoga practice. Don’t you find it becoming such an integral part of daily life? I mean, even when you bend or turn, and possibly walk a bit taller and straighter. I do for sure. The camera on my phone is so handy. I never go anywhere without a camera and since the iPhone, I don’t have to think about it so much. But it isn’t good enough for my work…not a high enough resolution and raw files of my professional Canon…but so lovely to have on hand all the time. Have to see what you’re up to. It’s been such a packed week round here I feel a bit out of touch. Catching up now. 🙂

Great cat faces and I love your sketches on the sheet music.

Thank you Michelle. You can’t be mad at that little mush for very long, can you? I’m sketching/painting some more today. Taking a proper Sunday off day! 🙂

Morgan looks way too cute to cause any trouble! I love your dragonfly on your sheet music, very cool looking.

Hi Astrid, I know, right? 🙂 She only LOOKS cute! Thank you for the lovely compliment about my little drawing. I’m loving the old sheet music.

Oh the photos of the heron are spectacular – and silly kitty is so cute. Love the sketching of the dragon fly on the note paper – just lovely.

Hi JoAnn, thank you so much. I was walking down a lane beside a park and heard that tell tale squawk of a heron and he landed right above me. I snuck around and took some photos and felt pretty lucky and, just then, down the deserted lane where no one ever goes, three cars decided to drive past at the same time, and the heron took off. Don’t you love city life! 🙂

People always say cats are ciphers, but my cats are so obvious sometimes it’s comical. I’m especially fond of the “who me?” look. I get that almost as much as the “you’re blocking my sun” look.

Oh Jeannine, I’m very familiar with the “get the hell out of my sun” blinky stare! And the follow up indignant middle claw as I push her out of my seat. 😀

She really does look as though she means business. I’d just say, “here kitty kitty kitty”, and then boot her butt out the door when she comes to me. No poo poo in the house at my house allowed… BAD KITTY!!

Very true Diane. Morgan has earned herself a one way ticket outside for the night. 🙂

Hoping your eyes heal up quickly and kitty has learned her lesson! Your dragonfly sketch and the cormorant (??) photo are beautiful

Hi Jennifer, thank you so much. That bird is a great blue heron. I was at the right place at the right time then. 🙂

Veronica–hope that your eye are feeling better soon! Love the great blue, taking off into the great blue 😉 And the “Oh Yeah?” Kitty face is hysterical. LOVE dragonflies and put to music no less–they are so cool!

Lol Sara, yeah…hysterical cat! But, she knows she was a bad cat and she’s very well behaved now. 🙂

Your sketches on pages and musical sheets are some of my favorites here. Do you sell them? If not you should!

    • Reply Veronica April 23, 2013 at 6:23 pm

Hi Kathryn, thank you so much. I mostly send the sketches out into the world and give them to friends. I’ve been getting some encouragement lately to sell them. I’m not a good sales person. 🙂

I do not market my work either. I always wanted to hire someone but never have.
