hello from Sunday night, and a goodbye
Hi everyone!
Well, what a surprise weekend.
We have a new family member. Please meet Asher Neal Roth, my brand new grandson, baby Mega.
As his wonderful mother Chantal says, Megababy decided he wanted to be a Pisces and not an Aries like he was supposed to be.
Lucky for us. We’re so in love.
And, lucky for Chloe because Chloe is leaving on Wednesday for Japan and will be away for 6 months and up to a year.
Chloe’s already had a giant going away party with her friends, which lasted till 4am as only 20-something parties can last, but this weekend we had an open house for the rest of us who know the value of our sleep! And had some friends and family stop by.
So we cleaned the house, baked a glazed ham and made some yummy potato salad.
Baked a brie and some banana bread, bought chocolate croissants made a pot of tea, and opened a few bottles of wine.
Friends and family came and said goodbye all evening.
Whew! What a wonderful and long weekend. π
We’ll miss our Chloe, won’t we? But she promises to get her blog going full speed so we won’t miss a thing. π

What an interesting little face your baby boy has – a real person from Day 1. How lovely and intriguing! I don’t spend much time with baby-babies these days but I visited with two on Saturday and was reminded of how delicious they are (especially when you’re not primarily responsible for their well-being). Congrats Granny!
And what good timing to distract you from Chloe’s leaving. I’m sure you’ll miss her, and I hope she has a really wonderful time.
Veronica
I know, I know! Grandmothers have it made in the shade. Just play with them for a time and send them home!
Yes, I’m going to miss C something rotten! How wonderful though that we now have Whatsapp and Skype and apple msg and FB and Instagram and Youtube and so many ways to connect. π Lucky we who no longer have to wait for 6 months for a snail mail letter to be shipped from the other side of the world. π

what a beautiful new baby! Congratulations. I love his name. What an exciting time for your baby……but a long way away for her Momma. You two are so close I am sure it will be a tender ache while she is gone.
Veronica
I cannot tell a lie. I’m going to miss her something rotten. And we’ll cry a little, but the year will fly by. π
Bungalow Hostess
Congratulations! Lovely family and I love the pictures of your home. The menu sounds delicious too.
Veronica
Thank you so much Hostess. I see we have similar homes. West Coast early 20th century Craftsman! I should take more pictures round here, because it is a lovely Craftsman cottage, the trouble is that I have to have guests over to really clean up! π Thank you so much for visiting me. I love to pop by and visit you. π

Veronica, your home is so warm and inviting. I feel as if I could just snuggle in and enjoy a big mug of tea and join in the conversation. Hails and farewells always bring with them a bag of emotions, don’t they? Joy and promise, happiness and longing, but most of all the hope of great days to come. You will be in my thoughts this week as you go through this transition with the wish for exciting things to fill your days. My best wishes to Chloe on her adventure! What great stories she will have to share. Blessings, my friend!
Veronica
Aw, thank you Dana. At the moment, Chloe’s a bit of a basket case, but I think she will have a fabulous adventure! Can’t wait to go visit her myself! π

Asher has such a pleasant look on his face — like he’s really pleased to be here! Congrats to everyone! And Chloe is so lucky to be going to Japan for 6 months. Will she be based in Tokyo or in another city?
Veronica
I know! He doesn’t look like he’s a newborn at all, does he? He’s much more pink baby and much less wrinkled prune…lol.
Chloe is going to be in Osaka for a 6 month contract, which she can then extend for another 6 months. She also plans to visit a farm 1.5 hours out of Kyoto run by a Canadian woman and her Japanese husband and trade her working the farm for a place to stay there. Then also she plans to visit Okinawa and Hokkaido. I hope to go visit her in Sept…all things being equal! π
