Random Friday thoughts

I’m starting to love Nancy’s Friday random thoughts. It’s hard to chose just five, but we must be disciplined!

I also love Oxfordshire in late summer. It’s so golden and beautiful. I want to paint every thing I see and capture it on canvas to remember for the rest of the year.

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen so far: Little test tubes full of herbs and spices. Very pretty and I’m sure loads of people will get sucked into buying them or giving them as little gifties…

…but even if they come with this pretty little display case, can you really see yourself with your messy cooking hands trying to uncork one of these little vials to add a pinch of this and a pinch of that to your meal? Yeah. me neither. And then you go and make something like a chili and then there goes at least three test tubes full. At £2 each, that’s $ 9.85 Canadian worth of chili…whoa! (Robert just said “hatchet job” as in I’m slating someone’s product again, and I’m like, “what?!???”)

How much do you love this guy? I’m so over the moon in love with this Highland cow it’s ridiculous. Those are real horns and bits of material everything else. It’s life size and costs £600, that’s…well…completely unaffordable, so the only thing is to make one. How hard can that be? 🙂

Robert did the sweetest thing for me the other day. Remember I said last week that I was going to buy a mini shell and restore it to a beautiful mini for me? Well here is a picture of the swamp monster mini shell and after Robert spent several hours steam cleaning the exterior to see where the rust and damage was. Then he put some mini hubcaps on it and took some photos for me to see what it will look like. (The inside is still a bit swamp monstery, but well get to that soon.) I’m thrilled, it’s going to be a beautiful little car for me.

Yesterday I took some photos of the almost full moon rising up from behind some clouds. I steadied the camera on the roof of the car while I released the shutter and it went khaaaa…….lick.

Happy Friday!! Until lunch yesterday, I thought yesterday was Friday. I was so disappointed when it wasn’t. 🙂 Oh my, that hill is beautiful. Girl, I’m in awe that you can take that (well can’t call it a car, really) shell and make it into a functioning auto, but I know if anyone can, you two can. Can’t wait to see pictures of the finished product.

Beautiful scenery. The little tubes of herbs are cute, but I’m with you — too expensive to use. Your Mini is going to be wonderful — have fun with the rebuild. Looking forward to seeing you make the Highland Cow, too. Beautiful moon shot.

You caught a lovely photo of the moon! Yes, those test tubes are cute, but they don’t look very practical. That cow is adorable! That would be fun to make. Good luck with the car restoration!

    Hi Veronica,
Lovely photo of the countryside! Wow! It is so scenic! I wish I could see those colours in person. Your mini is adorable – what a great hubby you have!

The renos at home are getting a little closer. We had problems with the kitchen floor because of the particle board but it has all been replaced with plywood but the tiling should finally be done by the end of next week. My washer and dryer will be delivered next Friday and then I can wash clothes at home again. Is your reno completed yet in Vancouver?

It has been a strange summer…. couldn’t even enjoy my garden at home since it is filled with old washer, dryer, dishwasher, tiles, basement ceiling fan, laundry room since, etc. Can’t wait to return to a normal life again. Are you staying in England until Fall?

Enjoy your beautiful time in such a beautiful place!
    Take care,
    Karen

People will do anything to make you buy something stupid. And, a lot of us fall for it. How dumb is that!!!

They are cute – I can see why people would buy them, but you’re right, they would end up costing a lot!

Love the view of the countryside! Those mini spice tubes are very cute – they would be perfect for trying out new spices just to make sure you like them or if several were given as a gift with a recipe for someone to try. But, of course, for everyday….kind of crazy. I can see why you are in love with the Highland cow – what a cutie – I always enjoyed seeing the real thing when we traveled in Scotland. Be sure to post a picture if you make one. Lucky you to have a husband (and to be so talented yourself) who can rebuild a car – boggles my mind! And, thanks for the beautiful moon shot at the end. Ahhhhhhh…….

Simply beautiful images Veronica! That first one is amazing.

I have to admit I love those little vials of spices if not the price.

That car project is some undertaking. He must love a challenge. I kind of like the spices. I would probably keep them as a decorative thing.. maybe.. perhaps. 😉
