Star catcher and other thoughts

September 11, 2013

I’m very aware of what day this is and I’m very aware that I feel very lucky to be alive and here in this glorious, warm September sunshine, on this lovely beach with C.

There’s this thing which happens in the afternoon. The sunlight fills the ocean with stars.

I went swimming with the stars in the cool water, in the warm breeze,

and each time I moved my hands thru the water, millions of stars twinkled around me.

I watched my mermaid child swim around surrounded by stars.

I saw her come out of the ocean dripping and happy that we have this longer warm summer.

I built a fantasy sand castle beside me. Ephemeral though it may be, it stood firm while we were there.

I thought about my troubles, which I could list in a never ending page, but decided that right here, today, just now, everything is just fine. I’m healthy and happy and enjoying being on the beach.

And watching the stars.

I know what you mean sweet Veronica, we all do and cannot forget that day in history and the tragedy my beloved home town, NYC. had to endure and all the USA. I love it that you had a wonderful day at the beach and yes, taking advantage of lovely weather to forget or dismiss for a bit our troubles and problems…..I love this serene and sentimental post. Beautiful images of a lovely day at the beach. Thank you tons for your sweet and kind comment, you always make my day dear friend. I love collecting transferware dishes, specially the red and blue, so I know the fun your DD must have !
    Big hugs,

Thank you so much sweetie. I’m so sorry for you and all of the USA. It’s heartwarming to see our Canadian police force and fire fighters do a special ride to the border, the Peace Arch at the border, in honour of the fallen.

You know what, I bought several pieces of transferware in England and moved it over here to Vancouver so I can use it. I love the brown transferware the most. 🙂

Thank you Jeanne. 🙂 If we painted that it wouldn’t look real somehow, would it?

Wow Sara, I just take these photos without much reflection sometimes, but you’re so right! Thank you for bringing that to my attention. 🙂
