Sunday whirl…little late…but there are daemons!
Could hardly wait to get some time to work with these brilliant words. My inspiration was reading Silence, a Fable by Poe; my most favorite piece of Poe writing, and this little piece of art.
jasmine, demons, window, scrap, ample, montage flawed, granite, trapped, whistle, domain, sunset
The daemons crawl out the window and ooze down the granitite walls where the sickly jasmine grows
they whisper at the tendrils and drain into the dark
Theyโve been trapped by the daylight and by their thoughts for hours waiting for the sunset
but the night has ample time
They look over the city and see a montage of colour and vapours
of warm blood and cold rock
In our world of scrap attention they are safe to cause mischief
We hear them murmur
feel them chill our spine
we think we are safe in our houses with our crosses and bibles
in the warm glow of electric lights and candles
we think our house is our sanctuary, our domain
but our thinking if flawed
they come
they come and whistle into our hearts and minds
Many thanks to Brenda for the wordle despite internet issues and to Margo Roby for her fantastic Friday round up of challenges.
Check out what my friends did with the words. Here are Misky, Jo Ann, Jules, Richard, and Sara
Art: Mixed media, (Paper, text, music sheet, acrylics, copper, gold leaf (on leaf), feathers, ink, charcoal, watercolours, stamp) on a piece of cardboard.

Well done Veronica. I too, love Poe.
Veronica
Thank you Frank :)Poe has got to be the best aid for creating dark images.
Sara McNulty
ooh! You do dark well. I love Poe.
Veronica
Thanks Sara, if you ask the people closest to me they would agree! lol.
Misky
excellent! And many thanks for the shout-out. ๐
p.s., I’m also a Poe fan.
Veronica
There, you see Misky, I knew we were kindred spirits! PS, off to the U.K. in about 10 days time till Sept.

Oh, thanks so much for the link. Please do leave your link in any post of mine you comment on. I’m not too good with tech things or I would return the favor…Sometimes the linky thing will allow me to change it and sometimes it won’t. And other times I’m just a ‘fraidy cat’ to try what I don’t know how to do.
Your poem reminds me of a children’s animated series a while back where the gargoyles some good, some not so good transformed in the night to battle the city streets.
Thanks for your visit and comment on ‘Just Peachy’ you might also enjoy my second go at the wordle list here:

Ok Jules, sounds good. I love it when I can point the way to friend’s work. (not sure if it really leads to anything spectacular -like an agent visiting- but…hey…you never know) ๐ Going to check out your second whirl.
Mr. Walker
Veronica, I like the flow of this, how it unfolds. I also like how the daemons are trapped “by their thoughts” and how they are “safe to cause mischief”.
Richard
Veronica
Oh good, Richard, I’m glad you liked it. Wouldn’t it be something to have that mentality? I liked putting myself in the daemon’s mind.
Linda G Hatton
Oohh .. I like this .. very nicely done! And your artwork is beautiful!!
Veronica
Aw, thank you Linda. Art helps me think. On the other hand, writing inspires me to make a piece of art! (it’s a chicken/egg thing) ๐
Jo Ann J. A. Jordan
Poe is awesome, one of my favorite creative geniuses. I love your artwork, it sets the scene. The poem is very well done. I like how you suggest we are not safe within our houses… there is much truth in this.
Veronica
Thank you Jo…it’s true isn’t it, especially the inner daemons which one can’t find sanctuary from.
Dana
Your artwork and poem are both amazing!
Veronica
Thank you Dana…published girl. I was so happy for you when I read your news on FB. ๐
