Tea cup Tuesday, we only have time for breakfast. Some days are like that.

We’ve come to really love tea cup Tuesdays but Chloe’s on campus all day today so the only chance to have tea with my sweet child was at breakfast.

It started off as a lovely sunny morning and, since both our bedrooms face east, we decided to have breakfast in my bedroom and catch the morning sun.

I draped an old cashmere shawl on the little table as a table cloth and that gave us an orange and burgundy theme.

I have a few pieces of this orange transfer ware? (not sure) china. The mark is a bunch of numbers and letters and one word, “mattese”,

and one spectacularly orange Aynsley cup.

I made our breakfast favorite, Earl Gray tea, soft boiled eggs, toast and a large bowl of fresh fruit.

Morgan, figuring she’s one of the girls, decided to get in on breakfast.

I think that, especially living in Vancouver for part of the year, it’s a good idea to chase the sun around the house and take advantage of every little ray.

This was such a good idea.

One last sip of tea…

…and off we go. Do you think Morgan will do the dishes? Yeah, me neither.

Happily linking up with Terri of Artful Affirmations to admire her birthday tea cup prezzy, and to Martha, and sending Martha lots of love and strength. I’m still thinking about you and I care. And Sandi at Rose Chintz Cottage.

    Hello Veronica,
I too, chase the sun around my house! The tea setting is integral to the tea moment! lol!
Your tea setting in your bedroom is sweet and lovely. What a morning to have with your beautiful daughter.
The china is gorgeous as well. I have never seen orange china I liked before….but I ADORE yours! And that beautiful tea cup too! But the most beautiful part…is that you would take the time to create such an opportunity for joy!
    I love that!
    Hugs,
    Terri

One of the things that I have learned to do, is to take some time to enjoy the little things. Just like you did. Your setting is beautiful and I love that china.
    Have a nice week,

Lovely Veronica. I love your Antique Staffordshire china! The colors are glorious with the egg yolk and teacups. Any time with a child is precious, but especially so as they mature and build lives away from home. And what lovely photos! Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Veronica, another lovely play date with the light–I love the different angles and rays and reflections (almost as yummy as that breakfast looked!) and I have the same egg cups 🙂 So cute! Thank you for sharing a de-light-ful moment <3

hmmmm …. i’m reminded to savour different corners of the house – breakfast doesn’t always have to be taken in the same place – suddenly i feel richer in space and creative options – lovely x

Orange is SUCH a great and happy color. I really need to add some to my decor. It brightens the table and the mood.

    Hi Veronica,
you made wonderful photos, they tell a story by their own without any words. How lovely when the three girls of you (Morgan!) have breaktfast together. I think Morgan would do the dishes, when you left, but in a different way as you want. LOL
Thank you for sharing your sweet moment and for your visit on my blog and the kind comment.
    Best greetings, Johnna

You’ve brought back memories of me making soft boiled eggs and toast fingers for our daughters. When they were old enough, they would return the favour and make this favourite breakfast for me.

Love the photos! The orange dishes serve as a beautiful visual contrast to the tea and food. And I think that the tea tradition’s a great bonding idea.

I completely agree with you on “chasing the sun” as I live in the Pacific Northwest too. What a lovely and special time for you and your daughter. ( she’s very pretty) I don’t see much orange china or many orange teacups, and the ones you have pictured here are pretty. Makes me wish my kids were young enough to be back home and have such a breakfast with me…oh well, maybe with the grandchildren ! Thank-you .

At first glance, I thought the transfer table wares are from Wileman/Shelley. This kind of red is very uplifting.
Ha ha, you are turning with the sun. I remember moving myself in my room in order to give myself a moonlight bath.
