Fis(c)h, Miss Herzfrisch’s drawing challenge
I looked around and realised that I actually paint a lot of fish! There are goldfish in the living room, koi under autumn leaves and goldfish lanterns in the family room, and a surrealistic azalea and koi painting in one of the guest bedrooms.
And, although I drew myself a steampunk fish on some handmade paper,
I wanted to do something a bit different.
Chloe has been having some fun with wire wrapping crystals and left the wire and pliers in my studio, so I thought I would give a try with a little wire sculpture.
C’s wire plus a few beads and voila! Here are my two fish:
I took them outside to photograph them in the morning sunshine. I love how they sparkle.
I think maybe they might end up on the Christmas tree among my collection of glass ornaments, but for now, I think they’ll hang out on the grapevine wreath above the fireplace.
Come on over to Sabine’s and check out everyone’s ideas. 😀
I love the steampunk fish! it seems to be saying ‘what? what are you looking at?’ … and the two fishes are so inventive – lovely xxx
intriguing; you certainly are talented; i have a friend livingbackstreet is her blog; she’s an artist; had a stroke; left arm paralyzed, but a range of stuff is pouring out of her; i wear one of her steampunk bracelets; but she does more than steampunk!

Now those are some different and fun fish. I like them.
The steampunk fish is so interesting. I must try that out. I am drawn to fish too! Great idea with the wire fish. They would look great on a Christmas tree!
the steampunk fish is very nice and I love the wire fishes and that you took them outside, very playful! x Stefanie
That’s a nice drawing and I do like “the flowing away” of the colors on the handmade paper. Well chosen. My first thougt was a tatoo. Your flying fishes are nice treasures to be found in a tree. – eric
they do sparkle, don’t they? from experience i know how difficult it is to ply wire, well, depending on the thickness, so i hope you didn’t hurt fingers, nor skin. x-mas oranments is a definite hit! n?
love the sparkle … as a woman who was clearly a magpie in a previous life … they’re super .. but then my friend you never cease to amaze with your talent/creativity
That steampunkfish is my favourit. Never seen it before. Is it a special technic? I like to hear more about it. I’m very curious! x J

Oh, steampunk-drawing! That I did not think. I am a fan of the steampunk people on festivals. So greate costums! So much humor.
The other to fishes need sunlight to glow. They are beautiful.
Oh, steampunk festivals must be so much fun! I can just imagine the wonderful costumes. Maybe one day I’ll get to go to one. 😀
Hello Veronica, I really love your steampunk-drawing, reminds me on early drawings of my son doing a lot technical stuff into every drawing. Its wonderful.
And those crystall-fishes are a delight and will be wonderful on your christmas tree – I’m sure.
Thank you so much Barbara. 😀
Veronica ~ I love all your artwork, drawn, painted, crafted and photographed! So happy that Kelly at My Soulful Home introduced me to you!
Hi Barb, thank you very much and I’m so happy too. Now I can come visit you. 😀
