Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in North America who celebrated today. I had the most marvellous time. Chloe and I took a long drive out to the old ship yards by the river and had lunch with my mother and my son at a new to us restaurant called The Blue Canoe. We couldn’t get any reservations at our usual fish and chips place out here, but it didn’t matter, this little restaurant was lovely.

After lunch we walked out onto the docks with the thought of maybe buying a fresh fish. Just then there was a sea gull commotion, as only sea gulls can manage, and we saw a very large sea lion thrashing a fish on the surface of the water, as a bald eagle looked down from the mast of one of the fishing boats. Just lovely.

Ice cream for desert and a nice walk along the river.

Just about a perfect mother’s day for me. How was your day? Your weekend? Hope you had a lovely time. 😀

What a treat to see a bald eagle! I’ve only ever seen one in the wild in my entire life. I’ve only seen a seal in the wild once too — in Victoria.

What a fantastic eagle sighting! And to get such a clear pic of it.
Now I would’ve called that a Fish Eagle. We have a breeding pair that live on our lake and hear and see them often (though not as close as this!). I researched Fish Eagle v Bald Eagle and they’re very similar!
Glad you had such a lovely day!

All the ingredients were there for a perfect day – three generations, good food and some of the best entertainment at the shore!

    Hello Veronica
We had a nice lunch out at Jack Astor’s (not sure if they’re out west) with our youngest daughter and children. I like your day too with a seafood lunch and ambling along the waterfront afterwards to see the docked boats and goings on.
Thanks for your visit and linking to Mosaic Monday.

Such a special day for you all Veronica and some beautiful photos for your album!
It looks like the perfect spot for a family outing – I love seaside villages with the boats and wildlife!
I didn’t imagine seeing a Bald Eagle on the coast – don’t ask me why!
    Very Special.
