Remember the little plate I got at the car boot sale this summer? I hung in the cat’s feeding area. I love making every bit of my space beautiful to look at. (That little tray is there because Morgan is the messiest water drinker and splashes out more than she actually drinks)
Speaking of Morgan, what’s this about? That scrubby little cat is so skinny when she’s wet or when you pet her but can be such a little dumpling other times. (She is very healthy and slim though, so don’t worry.)
For anyone who’s ever felt badly, here’s proof that even if you’re 115 lbs soaking wet and have the cutest body with the longest legs, you’ll still be critical of your bum in a new pair of slacks!
I love getting the boxes of costumes and vintage clothes down from the loft storage. We’re now up to four large boxes plus a dressing rack, where the best vintage dresses hang, three hat boxes full of vintage hats, and one box full of shoes, purses and other little bits.
This ginko is in a little street corner park just two blocks away from me. It’s such beautiful golden tree right now I really wanted to show you. 🙂
Linking with Nancy for more Friday randomness. 🙂
Beth
what a cute shot. sweet cat. ( ;
Veronica
Thank you Beth. That’s her cute teddy bear fake out because if you try to rub that belly, you might lose a finger. 🙂
Vivien Leigh
I am so glad I got to see this blog. Your black and white cat looks like one I had when I was young. I named her mittens. Also, I love the picture of the yellow tree.. Also, being a woman I can relate to the being critical of your self. although, you tend to get less so with age… I am 43 and around 40 stopped caring so much.
Veronica
Hi Vivien, I’m so glad you came to visit me too. I know what you mean about age but I still care…lol. 🙂
Christie
Love the cat plate! We, too, have to keep a tray down for our kitty but it’s because he is such a messy eater. I think he has an overbite which makes it hard for him to eat wet food on a flat plate. When I’m around and he is in an eating mood I will hold the plate at an angle for him. Ah, the things we do for our pets! The golden ginko tree is gorgeous!
Veronica
Aw, you’re such a good cat owner Christie. 🙂
julochka
i want to come and play in your costume box.
Veronica
I wish you would 🙂 We could dress up and have a party.
DogsMom
Gorgeous Ginko tree. I remember when the first ginkos started showing up in our area, not that there are many even now. It is still a novelty. (novel-tree?)
Love your kitty. We finally decided that those several- days- worth drinking bottles was the way to go.
Even then I think ALL of my cats have to paw the water and I end up changing it daily anyhow.
And they love to sit on top of the water bottle, which sometimes leads to a tipping tower.
Veronica
I never thought of those bottles but that makes good sense. Until Morgan gets the idea that it might be fun to tip it over…lol. I can so totally see her doing that just because she can. 🙂

A golden Ginkgo! You can’t beat that 🙂 I love that you make every part of your house beautiful–such a delightful point of view. Got me thinking about what little things I can do in nooks and crannies….have a lovely weekend!
Nancy @ A Rural Journal
Wow — that ginkgo is amazing! I had no idea it turned gold in the fall. Awesome!
Love that little area for Morgan. So sweet!
Veronica
It is an amazing tree, and one of the oldest genome in the world. The more I think about it the more I’d love top plant one at home. Aren’t the leaves good for memory? As tea or something? I think so. 🙂
Nadya
Yes, they are! And now, when they’re golden, is the perfect time for gathering some! They taste a bit like green tea, quite pleasant!
I have one in a pot!! Which seems odd, but they get so big (eventually) I could never decide where to plant it!!
Veronica
Oh good, I’m glad Sara. It’s nice to walk around and love everything around you, isn’t it? 🙂
Mascha
In the morning I wrote my “Random 5” and in the evening I go look at the others.
Morgan is so pretty and definitely satisfied with their own body …
Oh I love boxes and baskets full of vintage clothing, I did not see long – this is sooo inspiring –
The Ginko is a beautiful tree, I met today a ginko leaf pattern, carved in stone … what a coincidence!
The plate reminds me of Art Deco.
Have a great weekend
Veronica
I love vintage clothing too, and jewellery and accessories. If I could I’d dress in vintage all the time; except then I’d probably look a million years old! Lol. Chloe at 21 can get away with it, me…not so much. 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend too Masha. 🙂
Daryl
ah … cats and water … long ago we bought a very heavy china bowl for the cats to drink from because our dear departed Gus used to push the bowl and slosh the water before drinking … sigh … Harry dips his paw before drinking …. thankfully our tiny kitchen floor is tiled with terra cotta (outdoor) tiles so clean up isnt too bad but i really wish they’d be neater drinkers, dont you?
Veronica
Oh big time! Once in a while, when someone doesn’t finish a glass of milk, I’ll let the cats have it. Milo laps it all up without a problem, but after Morgan walks away form the bowl, there is a huge spray of milk and droplets all the way up her nose, forehead and ears. I’ve seen Morgan paw at the bowl too. Happily this one is too stout and wide to tip over. Brats! 🙂
Tina Fariss Barbour
You are so sweet to create a pretty spot for your kitty. 🙂 Morgan is precious! She reminds me of my baby Waddles, who lived to be 21. Our cat Chase Bird likes to tuck his tail into the water bowl with his paw. I’ve never seen a cat do that, but he does. Then he drinks from the little pool that collects around his tail. Strange. 🙂
Veronica
Lol, Tina, that’s hilarious! I love reading your little stories of Chase Bird on your site. 🙂 I had Sasha, who was my first cat ever, and also as an adult and loved him to pieces for 19 years. I have a hard time trying not to compare my now cats to him.
Kathryn Griffin @TheDedicatedHouse
What a cutie pie of a kitty you have! Love, love, love the plate. Just perfect for the spot. Thanks for sharing and thank you for the visit and sweet comment at The Dedicated House. It means the world. Feel free to share this post or any other at my Make it Pretty Monday party which goes live at 8am CST on Monday. Veronica
Hi Kathryn, thank you so much for the invitation; I’d love to join and meet new friends. 🙂 I write so many posts that I’ll pop over to your hop and have a look to see what would fit really well. 🙂
augcott
I love that you used the tray/plate for the cat’s water bowl …… LOL
Beats wiping up the mess off the floor each and every time!!!
Lovely post!
Have a great weekend!
Veronica
It’s so true. This little old tray is rusting, but that just gives it more character, in my opinion. 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend too. 🙂
sarahhuizenga
Your kitty does look very happy and healthy. I will never be 115 pounds again, but yes I do worry about how my bum looks in new jeans 🙂
Veronica
Hi Sarah, aint it the truth! I can’t seem to even get to 130 at 5’6″ these days. Do you think our bodies take their own decision as we get older? I do. 🙁
Cindy Siebert (@scribler)
What a beautiful cat!! And I love that tray!

Veronica
Hello Cindy, thank you so much. 🙂 That’s an old thrift store tray and it’s getting rusty. It’s the second one I’ve had for them. Stay tuned for number three in the near future. 🙂
Sharon
Your cat is adorable! So soft, I’m sure. My fluffy cat does that airing out pose all the time. My short haired cat hardly ever does. Hmmmm! The “bum” photo made me smile 🙂
Veronica
Hi Sharon, I love that phrase “airing out”. Brilliant. Only Morgan does this and she is so soft, like rabbit fur. My short haired cat, who feels like a mink, is too timid and tends to stretch out under a blanket, or width wise across the bed right between my legs…all night…darn cat! 🙂
Nancy
Morgan on her back made me giggle. What a nut! The Ginko is gorgeous. Nice shot.
Ida P. Krause
Morgan the kitty is so cute! We have a fluffy kitty, Snickers that is a skinny little gal too and a messy water drinker!
Your daughter is cute. Oh to be that young and skinny again. Well maybe not that young but the skinny part I wouldn’t mind.
I love Ginko trees and they have such a wonderful yellow leaf in the fall.
abrianna
Your cats have a very pretty eating area. My husband would not be pleased if I made my cat eating area pretty. Love the fluffy kitty shot too. And that golden Ginko is stunning.
dawnsrays
Your cat!!!! well I have no words ~that photo is hysterical
Yeah, we all wish our bodies would behave sometimes, no matter what our size is, lol
That gingko tree is to die for! I love gingko leaves so much. You are very lucky to have one sitting so close by. Thanks for sharing that blazing gold tree!
~Dawn
Veronica
I know, I know. What is she like? I love ginkos too. My late aunt had a young one in her garden and I would have tried to move it had I known the garden would get completely demolished. (but then it might have been too big after all) 🙂
