The orange light of autumn is the best light for naps
I’ve decided that there’s something magical about orange light.
Just ask Isla…when she wakes up.
Somehow, when sunlight filters thru autumn leaves it gets that orange quality which lulls you to sleep.
Maybe it’s just my fancy, but I really believe it’s different.
Calming, sleepy, serene, quiet.
Shhh, you know you want to close your eyes too. π

What lovely photos. And you are so right about wanting to close my eyes now. You have a way with capturing serenity in your photos.
Veronica
Thank you Linda. I love that word “serenity”. Always been in love with the royal title of Princess Grace…Her Serene Highness.
Mariya Koleva
Yes, I want to close my eyes to it! And I completely agree with you. Autumnal orangeness does give something special.
Veronica
I know Mariya, I can’t put the camera down! π
Sabra Bowers
Another beautiful piece in words and pictures. I love autumn light from the first rays to the last. Who is the sleeping Isla? Love her name.
Veronica
Thank you Sabra. Isla is my daughter Kerstin’s second child. I love her name too, Isla Violet Gray. (Violets are Kerstie’s favorite flowers)
Emily McGee
Mmm, I love naps. I’ve never thought about how much light can create the perfect ambiance for sleeping. Your photos really highlight it!
Veronica
Thank you Emily. Can you take naps? Only I’m pretty useless at it. Have to be absolutely shattered before I can nod off. π
Lara Britt
Love naps and love fall…the downside of living in Paradise. I would love to beam over for some frost on the pumpkin and warm apple cider.
Veronica
Lori, I’ll send some mail as a care package! π
Jennifer Chow
Love the napping baby picture, especially the glimmer of light on her hand. I feel like I just soaked in some nature by seeing your beautiful photos. Thanks!
Veronica
Thank you Jennifer, so very nice of you to stop by. Our little Isla is such a target for my camera right now. Can’t stop photographing her. π On my way over to check out your blog now; haven’t been there lately…very naughty of me.

Oh definitely, naps–bake cookies, bread, make tea, That’s all in my imagination though, Florida is way too green and warm for any of that…
Veronica
Sara, it must be lovely to have warm and beach all year long. I’ve only been to Miami so have a very limited idea of what Florida looks like. Hope you get to New England or someplace like that sometimes. That’s what I’d love to do. Move to Montreal…to the Laurentians…for September/October to watch the leaves turn and paint and photograph and write my heart out and then get out of there before the -30 winter comes. π

Pretty colors. We’re getting nice color around here, too. And, I’m about to head south to extend the season a little longer. Everyone thought the drought would kill the fall color, but we are all pleasantly surprised to be wrong.
Veronica
How nice Joy, you get more summer. I hope you take loads of photos and post them on your lovely blog.

Yes, I want to curl up on my hammock, with a blankie wrapped around me, and something to read until I doze off, and when I awaken, some of those colored leaves will have worked their way off the trees and onto me.
Veronica
Me too Kim, as soon as I get all the work out of the way…which might be…um…next Febuary! π
patriciaddrury
makes me want to take a nap zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Veronica
I know Patricia, me too! π
