Nude, Patrice’s wonderful drawing challenge

June 27, 2014

I’m all over the place right now, but I couldn’t miss Patrice’s wonderful drawing challenge “nude”, so I prepared this digital art earlier.

digital art 2 nude copy copy

gigital art nude

This is my first try at digital art. Layers of my photography, old postcards, old maps, old letters, a couple of free stock images, and a bit of manipulative work with Photoshop. If anyone wants a through breakdown of the system, I’m happy to tell you all. πŸ˜€

Don’t forget to come by Patrice’s site and check out the other fabulous artists.

Third day in Prague ended up being a long and wonderful one

Thank you so much Nadine. Yes, that’s an Alphonse Mucha stamp and a black headed gull (found on the river in Prague) in one, and a European peacock butterfly in the other image. πŸ˜€

It’s nice to meet you here in the Drawing Challenge group.
See you next week? I wonder what theme Sus will come up with?

    • Reply Veronica June 30, 2014 at 4:03 am

Absolutely will try my best to be here next week. πŸ˜€ I’m looking forward to see what Sus has up her arty sleeve too. πŸ˜€

This is your first piece of digital art? Can’t believe it – it’s so great! Wonderful collages.

    • Reply Veronica June 30, 2014 at 4:02 am

Thank you so much Eva. It wasn’t hard to do. Loads of tutorials out there for blending layers in Photoshop, and it’s such an open program. πŸ˜€

I love collage and yours are lovely. I hope you do post your process. Can’t remember if I said, but I enjoyed your trip to Prague and found myself wishing you could live there, because your love for your home came through clear with longing. Blessings, Veronica.

    • Reply Veronica June 30, 2014 at 3:40 am

Aw, thank you Sabra. I’d love to live there again for a few years, but possibly trying to keep a foothold in three countries might just do my head in! (although, I must admit that I did look at some of the prices of the apartments overlooking the Vltava! What am I like?)

  • Reply sus June 29, 2014 at 6:21 am

I enjoyed these digital collages very much, Veronica. Great work, especially in light of being your first foray into that fascinating arena! I love the pops of orange in the top image.

    • Reply Veronica June 30, 2014 at 12:38 am

I’m glad you like the orange Sus; me too. The collages looked too boring without that little bit of colour. The cutting and layering of the orange stamp was a bit tricky though…lol…next time I might try a stamp without the cancel lines on it. πŸ™‚

these are beautiful veronica- I love the layers and how antique they feel- like I’ve just gone on a long journey in the past and found some serious treasure πŸ™‚

Hi Kristen, thank you so much. I much admire my friend Nick Bantock and his art and sometimes try for a “Bantock” type expression. That’s how his art makes me feel. πŸ˜€

  • Reply Norma June 29, 2014 at 3:29 pm

I hope you’ll be doing much more in this digital art style Veronica! If this is a hint of what you might come up with! Wowser. These could be journal covers, book bag stencils and the list goes on. So much fun here. Well I hope you are having a beautiful time travelling. They want me to use only one l as in traveling, but I refuse. I am a rebel today. Looking forward to seeing more of your art as time passes here in the challenge group. *smiles* Norma, x

    • Reply Veronica June 30, 2014 at 12:30 am

Hi Norma, thank you so much. I’d love journals with covers like these but have no idea how to start a process like that. And you should absolutely keep all the “l”s you can get away with. We’re Canadian after all…we already stick cute “u”s in everything. πŸ˜€

  • Reply Sally June 29, 2014 at 9:22 pm

Oh Veronica these are lovely….I hope you will do a tutorial sometime & show us how to do it! I have been so enjoying your beautiful photos of Prague that I almost missed these….glad I didn’t !

    • Reply Veronica June 30, 2014 at 12:27 am

Thank you so much Sally, I’d be happy to. I’m not an expert but the program is really open. I’ll do a simple demo. πŸ˜€

Oh I like it! Especially the last woman with the necklace, the flowers and the map. Very sexy! Like the layers very much!

  • Reply tanΓ―a June 30, 2014 at 5:20 am

Yesss, photoshop is such a great tool for playing around and collaging pictures! From time to time I do that, too, combining drawing and photos or just doing photo-collages and apart from the fact, that it costs a looooot of time, I love to try out those many functions…your digital art pieces are beautiful, just don’t stop playing with that medium!!

    • Reply Veronica June 30, 2014 at 10:43 am

Thank you so much Tania. It’s really fun, isn’t it? πŸ˜€ I keep thinking of new designs. Wish there was more time.

  • Reply Barbara bee June 30, 2014 at 10:37 am

Wow Veronica, I didn’t expect to find collages as I came here and I’m totally enthusiastic, they are totally awesome and it doesn’t look at all that you did it for the first time digitally! I Love them!

    • Reply Veronica June 30, 2014 at 10:40 am

Oh good! I love a good surprise. πŸ˜€ Thank you Barbara.
