Hello from Sunday night
Today’s been one of those lovely Sundays where there was no hurry and nothing urgent to do.
The sun came out in the morning but by noon the clouds rolled in again.
Yesterday we had an entertaining time watching Morgan and Milo trying to get in on C’s friendship bracelet threads.
Those cats get so obsessed over threads and bits of string. π
But today I had sleeping cats and time on my hands. I started a few new pieces of art on old paper and finished this one.
A little marsh tit on a dictionary page with the word harbinger on it. I like that thought, a harbinger of spring; although I’m not sure this little bird qualifies, I still love waking up to bird song. The bird song in Vancouver pales in comparison to Northmoor, but still there are chickadees and mourning doves and all sorts of twittering things. And, especially flickers drumming out their territory on the neighbour’s metal chimneys at 5am. They always make me laugh. π

My Little Home and Garden
Welcome to Sunlit Sunday, Veronica. Aside from this post, with the ethereal artwork, I did a bit of exploring around your blog and found gorgeous floral paintings with lush, vibrant colour. Also, I very much enjoyed reading the “About” section.
I take it your life is rich with creativity.

Veronica
Hello Karen, thank you so much. My life is very rich with creativity. Hope I show a lot of it here. π I’m enjoying getting to know you and your party. π
Denise at Forest Manor
Hi Veronica,
Your cats are so cute!! I love the picture of the one cat wrapped up in the string. π They simply must check out everything going on around them, right? I hear you about the Flickers tapping on the chimneys. π We have the big Red-bellied Woodpeckers here, and they do the same thing. They really are interesting birds.
I love your artwork! I think I’m ready for a harbinger of Spring. Your bird sketch looks like a Blue Tit. I saw those when I visited England with my husband years ago. Thank you for visiting my blog and taking time to leave a comment — hope you have a good week!

Veronica
Hi Denise, thank you so much. Those cats are beyond entertaining and always want to have their noses in everything. We have the pileated woodpeckers, you know, the ones with the red caps. Boy do they take chunks out of the forest trees! Happily, they don’t do houses…lol. π
dawnsrays
I simply love day like these. Slow and easy–no expectation but everything lovely and in its time. Thank you for sharing a bit of it with us.

Veronica
Me too Dawn. Sometimes I need more Sundays, don’t you? Maybe that’s why Mondays are so rough some weeks. π
karen
I love the bird painting on the book page. Beautiful.
Veronica
Thank you Karen. I love painting them. π
Cindy Cousineau
Your cat did finally get the strings from her friendship braclet. Very nice bird on a page of Harbinger. I too love to hear the small feathery friends, lately a neighbour has left his garbage exposed and I hear the early morning caw of crows.
Veronica
Hello fellow Canadian blogger. Thank you so much. Oh dear, I love crows to pieces but probably not in the morning garbage…lol. I’m off to try to find you in the blog world and get to know you. π
Miss Kitty
Hi! Came over from Amaze Me Monday to see your adorable bird on the dictionary page…just great! Your kitties and your daughter are fun pictures to see also. Thanks for sharing those.
Veronica
Hello there Miss Kitty, thank you so much for the visit and now that you’ve left your addy, I can come visit you. π
Renee
Your cat is hilarious, especially with all of the string wrapped around it!
Your little marsh tit is delightful. I like how the words subtly peer through its body!
The comment you left on my blog about your Vancouver cats and mice “cracked me up”! Thanks for visiting.
Happy week to you!
Veronica
Hi Renee. I know, those cats are so funny! Thank you so much. I love to draw on bits of ephemera. π
Eileen
Funny kitty looks cute with the string wrapped all around. Your bird sketch is beautiful. Well done! Have a happy week ahead!
Veronica
Thank you so much Eileen. Those cats! They love string so much. π
EG CameraGirl
LOVE this dictionary page with the word harbinger in the upper left-hand corner! Perfect for your drawing of the marsh tit!
Veronica
Thank you so much. I love drawing on old bits of ephemera. Love giving something worthless some worth. π
debra@ frugal little bungalow
Cats can be so comical…mine loves thread and strings and hairbands and such too. Lovely drawing ! π
Veronica
Oh, do your cats attack hairbands? Milo used to eat them! Seriously eat them and then trow them up. He’s stopped that now thank god! Cats! π
Dotsie
Those are some great cat photos! And I love your harbinger page β¦ so creative. Now what will you do with it?
Veronica
Thank you so much Dotsie. I usually stick the little paintings in a drawer or send them out into the world, but I’m working on an Etsy shop…stay tuned. π
Poppy
Hi Veronica,
What a lovely, lazy Sunday, partly cloudy, (love those clouds), very feisty (your felines), with the talented Chloe, and her creative mommy documenting all the fun!
Have a wonderful week, my friend!:-D
Poppy
Veronica
Thank you so much Poppy, I love lazy Sundays and spending time with Clove. π
Pondside
The perfect sort of Sunday. I wish I could express myself as you do, with your art. It’s such a pleasure to look at what you’ve done.
I thought of one of your along-the-river posts as I drove off the ferry last night and along River Road in the pounding rain. I wouldn’t have wanted to be on the river last night!
Veronica
Aw, thank you so much. I do love those river walks (in the sunshine though). Actually, I think it’s from my childhood. You know, I love the ocean so much and feel at home beside it, but I grew up in Prague with a summer cottage over the river Elbe, and now live five fields away from the Thames and so rivers are in my heart. Our Fraser is something, isn’t it? π
riet
You have the most beautiful cats. Love your photo’s
Veronica
Thank you so much Riet. I think the cats are pretty spectacular too. π
Tammie
kitties and string seem like a perfect marriage. fun to see your photos.
that is such a sweet bird, very well drawn, i can feel it sitting there.
Veronica
Aw thank you Tammie. I love those birds; love drawing them. I think it might be time for a new map. Birds on a large scale! π
woolf
terrific stills around your house and from your morning thoughts….
you’ve made a wonderful drawing there! n?
Veronica
Thank you so much. π I love this house and can’t get enough of photographing it. Also, each time the sun makes a momentary appearance I want to run for the camera and capture the moment to hang on to it. It’s raining today so yesterday was such a sunny treat. π
Lorrie
Hello Veronica,
The photos of the sun shining into your apartment, illuminating the floors, are beautiful. We didn’t have sun here on the Island on Sunday, just more rain, like today. Things should be clearing up later in the week.
Your artwork is really lovely – birdsong is a great way to wake up.
Your cats look very playful and fun.
Veronica
Hi Lorrie, thank you so much. This is a little heritage house I bough now about 2.5 yrs ago. I lost the 100 yr old floors when a plumber made a terrible mistake, but had them replaced to the Craftsman original, so things turned out fine in the end and I’m happy I decided on the gloss finish that the originals were. We have rain here in Van today too and the snow drops are out and I am dying to go photograph them. Oh well, they’ll last a few more days. π
daryledelstein
lazy days are the best .. and yet you manage to be creative you truly put the rest of us to shame
Veronica
Lol Daryl, not at all the result I was after…oh dear. π
Sarav
Hi Veronica! Wow do those floors look fantastic–glowing in the sunlight π Love your bird paintings, don’t know if I told you, but grew up with avid birders so I really enjoy your paintings. Also love the kitties, animals give us so much joy! Smiles to everyone and belated happy lazy Sunday.
Veronica
Hi Sara, the floors do look good and I’m so happy I insisted on an exact recreation of the old Craftsman floor. You should see us sometimes when the sun is straight in on the floors, it’s blinding…lol…but I love it. Thank you so much sweetie. π
Judy
Hi Veronica. I love it when the cats play that way. They are so comical and your painting on the book page is very lovely. Sweet little bird against the words is outstanding. I love it..Happy Tuesday..Judy
Veronica
Thank you so much Judy. Oh, I’m glad you’re back. Did you have a nice holiday? Off to catch up on your happenings now. π
