How many times have I transplanted my grandfather’s bleeding hearts?
From garden to garden, from house to house, for years.
But each spring I know they will come up and my house, which ever house I’m in, that house feels like home.

I believe I’ve only seen Bleeding Hearts as a hanging plant. They are beautiful. I love having plants from someone else’s garden or a cutting of a house plant. I think of them each time I see the plant, as you think of your grandfather when you see these.

This is where I admit homesickness – I cannot transplant my parents’garden from Scotland over here. Something I find quite sad so I recognise the meaning behind moving your bleeding hearts 🙂

Aww, Amanda! ((Hugs)) I’ve been known to travel to the Czech Republic with a snorkel which is a wonderful place to “keep” a cutting of violets till they get to Vancouver. I know, I know, really BAD!

I did the same thing with my grandmothers daffodils and day lilies. The daffodils got damaged, but I still have those lilies, all these locations and years later.

Grandmas day lilies are the old fashioned orange ones. Some people around here call them swamp lilies, but I think they deserve a better name than that.
