Round here randomness for the week
I bought the cats a new scratching cardboard piece and it came with a small sachet of catnip. I sprinkled the tiniest bit on and Morgan went a bit psycho; half cat, half razor wire.
No more catnip for you!
I always wonder where the stores got the gorgeous display pieces that are never for sale…like this huge basket. Nevermind the cute pumpkins, I want that wire basket…which is not for sale! 🙁
The other thing I wonder about is how does it figure that, (at retail, nevermind wholesale), $35 worth of pretty plants plus galvanized tub plus about 20 minutes of work, (believe me I know), turn into a $150 arrangement?
Mom and I had lunch this week and we were the only people in this sweet little French bistro to ask to sit on the patio. (French bistro was quite full) I would have expected the reverse on a day like this. Come on people, how many more sunny, warm afternoons are we going to get before we’re forced inside?
I started a new painting/project/craft/thing this week. I’ve had this old wooden screen for…forever. The panels have seen their fair share of painted canvas, tapestry, fabric…whatever I felt like and now I’m ready to display it again. So I bought some canvas, did the very mathematic and complicated method of eyeballing the sizes for the panels, drew some pen guidelines and painted the background with acrylics. Then sketched out and wiped off about 17 different designs with blackboard chalk.
Then I picked up my oils. So far so good. I like the way it’s turning out. 🙂

Very nice day spent with Mom. In the early 90’s I sold hand painted room dividers of all shapes and sizes. They were all the rage back then. I still have some. Great for loft or warehouse dwelling.

we usually have good weather. & i always wonder if i could live in an area where i was forced to live inside more … could i stand it? not sure. i would have to think on that. i love my outdoors with the sun & all. i guess i could sing in the rain or snow??! ( :

I love your paintings in progress, all lovely photos, and yes why eat in when you can still eat out. We recently wanted to buy a bonsai, it cost 75 euros, the ceramic dish I have at home, 7 euros, the soil as well cost less than 10 euros, the 15 centimetre plant then comes in at 58 euros how is this possible, didn’t buy it as we have a high rate of failure with our indoor plants but still…

I’d be outside too! I’m currently in Michigan enjoying a beautiful Indian summer and awaiting the arrival of my first Grand-Princess. I don’t want these beautiful warm n’ sunny days to end but I can’t wait to meet the Princess, due Nov. 5th!

Wow your kitty must really be crazy for catnip. Our loves it but never act that wild. Well once Snickers tried to climp sideways on the couch after eating the stuff. We get fresh catnip from plants we grow and they just love it.
Beautiful arrangement. What is the one plant near the right hand side that has something that looks like pods on it?

Hi Ida, This cat is crazy at the best of times…lol. I think that plant is an ornamental pepper plant. It’s just perfect for the fall, isn’t it? 🙂

Oh, I wish my kitty would act that silly with catnip…mine eats it and then lies down for a nap. Maybe you have some really potent catnip! Yes, yes, yes to eating outside…in fact I did that tonight with friends at a local restaurant. I can’t wait to see the finished painted panels…I do hope you will show us when you have finished.

Nice! I love being outside. Food just tastes better, doesn’t it? I will share the result, after it’s painted and dried and cup apart and hemmed and then hand sown on the dowels… 🙁 !

Cardboard is the best for them, isn’t it? I remember flipping a box upside down and cutting a hole in the side. Hours of cat fun. 🙂 Nancy, I bet you could construct and paint a screen. Actually, I’ve known you a while now and am pretty confident that you can do it. You’re very talented. 🙂
