Here we are at Friday random again!

February 20, 2014

I feel so bad when I read all your posts and see all the snow! My poor winter-trapped friends (Except for you lucky ones in California, Arizona, Florida…Spain…etc). But for all my Eastern friends, it’s so lovely here and I almost hate to admit it, C and I are hiking the mountains each chance we get. The snow is melting making lovely, fresh, cold streams of pure, clean water. (Don’t hate me, I’ve got spare bedrooms πŸ˜€ )

And just as I’m telling everybody how beautiful it is here, last night C comes running into my bedroom saying, “Mom! Mom! You’ve got to come look out the living room window!”
Now that’s random!

Yesterday, I pulled up to a red light and C shouted, “A CARD!” and jumped out of the car picked the card up and jumped back in again just as the light turned green. We have this fancy that sometimes the universe sends us a little message and that playing cards carry divination messages. I know this is about as silly as healing and energy crystals but…whatever…it’s harmless fun. So according to our silly pet website, the 10 of hearts she found tells her: good luck and success is with her. This is good because here she is studying one of the three 40 page readings for her midterm. (By the way, she’s wearing the iron pyrite stacking rings I made for her. I chose the iron pyrite specifically because it brings vitality, creativity and strength…according to C’s crystal healing book) πŸ˜€

What are we like?

I walked into the kitchen today to see the contents of the cardboard and catnip scratching box ripped up with a great, big hole thru it, right out of it’s holder, and bits of cardboard and catnip all over the floor, with one satisfied Morgan sitting in the narrow box.

So who can study while there’s a hockey game on, and if it’s the gold medal Olympic women’s hockey being streamed on CBC TV…and you have to be on the internet studying anyway…

Well, C’s face was priceless watching the last period plus the intense overtime, that I took about 70 photos of her. Then I had to make this little one minute movie to entertain you. πŸ˜€

Sharing all the random with Nancy.

Thank you so much! You know what I always wondered? How did Shania get the rights to that NHL hockey tune…you know…the first seven notes of that song. I guess it pays to be Canadian…lol.

Love your cat!! And that hockey game sure was a thriller!! You captured a lot of joy on C’s face.

    • Reply Veronica February 21, 2014 at 7:24 am

Wasn’t that an amazing game? I picked C up form her first class and we had the game on CBC radio in the car, ran in and immediately streamed in from CBC. Holy smokes! What a game. πŸ˜€

That is a super video of your beautiful daughter with S Twain’s music, perfect. I love the little signs the universe sends, once on a walk in a busy city section of Riyadh, S Arabia I found a heart card, a red button and a small charm bracelet heart-i’d just met my husband :-). We don’t buy those catnip things anymore our cats turn demon like and the box shreds are found everywhere.

    • Reply Veronica February 21, 2014 at 7:22 am

Thanks so much Lynn, I’m one of those pain-in-the-bootaaay mom who keeps taking photos of the kids! πŸ˜€ They usually don’t notice it any more, except for my son, who loves to hide his face or give me “the look”. Holy smokes, I love that story of your “sign”. So lovely! πŸ™‚

Well that little snow storm was a “random” surprise for sure.
Absolutely loved your kitty in the rip up box. So hilarious.
May I just say the video of your daughter was priceless and just so much fun to watch. She has a wonderful smile.

I am so glad that somebody gets to go outside and enjoy nice hikes. Our time will come again.

  • Reply dawnsrays February 22, 2014 at 4:03 am

I love to play games with the Universe. Mine usually involves number sequencing and feathers.
    Have a great weekend!

    • Reply Veronica February 24, 2014 at 7:50 am

Oh, feathers! That reminds me, the other day a great blue heron feather floated down to me from the trees where several were roosting. Are those feathers ever beautiful. This is the only one I own but now I’ll be on the lookout for more. πŸ˜€

    That naughty cat is funny!

    Happy weekend to you!

    • Reply Veronica February 24, 2014 at 7:49 am

Thank you so much Renee. πŸ˜€ That cat always manages the best self-satisfied face in the world.

  • Reply mysoulfulhome February 22, 2014 at 6:17 pm

I am utterly convinced the Universe is speaking to me all the time. I think it speaks to everyone, but not everyone is keenly ( or kookily ) listening. I know you are listening intently. Feeling a little guilty too – wearing flip flops. πŸ™‚

    • Reply Veronica February 24, 2014 at 7:48 am

Oh nice! I knew we were kindred spirits. πŸ˜€ Are you wearing flip flops? Lucky girl! I suppose I could wear mine but my feet would get ever so cold…lol. πŸ˜€

  • Reply lori February 23, 2014 at 6:56 pm

Ha! Our cats love those cardboard things too… I’m feeling a bit guilty for the warm-ish temperatures we have over here in Portland. I’m so ready for spring!

    • Reply Veronica February 24, 2014 at 7:47 am

Me too Lori. Right now it’s snowing here in Van! I know, what gives?…LOl. I was just waxing poetic about the snowdrops and aconites and running about the garden looking for the first crocuses and then this! Old man winter isn’t finished with us yet. πŸ˜€

  • Reply dianecayton February 24, 2014 at 5:22 am

I think Shania would approve of the video! Very cute!!

    • Reply Veronica February 24, 2014 at 7:37 am

Aw, thanks so much sweetie. πŸ˜€

  • Reply daryledelstein February 24, 2014 at 5:56 am

we used to have one of those scratch boxes but it ended up much the same way so we invested in a ‘grown up’ scratching post … i wish Jack would use it all the time vs occasionally using the sofa arm and/or the shelf of toonman’s ancient LP sleeves/covers!

    • Reply Veronica February 24, 2014 at 7:36 am

Oh no! Not the LP covers. Mine are in a library situation and so the cats can’t get at them, but I guess to the cats they are like cardboard scratching things, aren’t they? We had a “grown up” scratching post with all sorts of lovely levels and such but the cats completely turned their noses up at it and ignored it.

  • Reply pattisj February 26, 2014 at 6:25 pm

Cute video. I hope C’s mid-terms go well. Morgan certainly looks pleased with the result.
