Random things I love
I love that I have green eyes and Chloe has blue and Jonathan and Kerstie have brown eyes. I love that I have the whole gamut in the family. Robert’s eyes are very unusual because they tend to be very chatoyant and can look blue, green and even hazel/brown depending on his mood. I love that too.
I love pebbles. I pick them up everywhere and stick them in my pockets. They usually end up in the garden or in craft projects or just in random arrangements in jars or on plates.
I love fantasizing about living in all sorts of places and houses. I look at a lovely house and then think about how much it would cost to live there. Like this place in London. And then I think about the reality and realise that it’s actually 1,2,3,4…15 flats! Yeah. But sometimes I think about selling the Vancouver house and the Oxfordshire house and ending up with enough money to buy a dream like this place in Vermont. (eight times over!) 😀 And having all that land…and chickens…and rescuing great big Morgans and Clydesdales. (sigh)
I love drawing on old pieces of paper; maps, books, found bits of cardboard… I love the thought that I’ve taken that worthless bit of paper which someone discarded and I’ve given it worth with my art. Transformed it into something special, multiplied its value exponentially. And then I’m always so gratified to give it away.
I love my iPhone as a repository of photographs and notes. Spur of the moment ideas, someone’s emails or websites I want to check out, images which inspire me…never has there been a better system. I’d never want to be without one again. 🙂

I learned a new word today from you: chatoyant. Cool! My daughter’s eyes are like that, too, sometimes blue, sometimes grey, sometimes dark, sometimes light. I have one color: brown! I love that you paint on old book pages etc. Very cool!

That’s such a useful word Barb! 😀 I love painting on old bits of paper too; much more interesting than white sketchbooks. My most favourite are my maps though. Wish I had more maps to paint on. 🙂

your birds are beautiful. I wish I could draw/paint like that. I collect little pebbles as well…and heart shaped stones that I find on the beach.

Aw. thank you so much. I love heart shaped rocks too, but they are awful hard to find where I usually hang out. I do have a few though. My friend Julie, (moments of perfect clarity blog) finds loads of them on the beaches in Denmark. 🙂

I sometimes see a house I too would like to live in. A few times I wanted to snap a photo but then didn’t thinking the owner might not like it . I have since sworn that I will take it when the opportunity presents itself and begin a collection of photos. I have a habit of picking up rocks rather than stones along my walks. I have gone on vacations and either filled a spot in the back of the car or a place in my suitcase. Lovely photos and wonderful writing; thank you for sharing.

Ata girl Diane. 🙂 I have a stuff ’em all attitude to taking photos; especially in public places where I figure everyone and everything is fair game. My grandfather used to collect rocks too. I have some beautiful big quartz he found somewhere. They have crystals in them. 🙂 Thank you so much for your lovely comment. X

Your drawings are beautiful! I often think about living in other places that I see, but I tend to focus in on places with lots of windows, and can only imagine how often they need to be cleaned!

Thank you so much Kris, I know what you mean about the windows. I’d love to live in the glass house at RBG Kew, but all those tropical plants would steam the place up something rotten; my hair would be perma-frizzy…lol. 🙂

My husband has green eyes also…like pools of pea soup green. They’re gorgeous.
